3rd Grade Assessment

All 3rd grade classes will have their quarterly assessment within the next week.  Dates for each specific class are listed below.  The assessment will assess students on the Spanish alphabet and important vocabulary words we have been practicing.  Students have also received their first “Spanish Practice Lottery” tickets! This is a great way to review for the upcoming assessment, as well.
Listening- Listen to letters of the alphabet stated by the teacher; students write the letter.
Reading- Look at a picture.  Read individual sentences.  Identify which sentences that are shown in the picture.
Writing- Write several original sentences using any of our vocabulary or other known Spanish words.
Speaking- Look at letters written on a page.  Say their names in Spanish.

Assessment Dates:
3Lewis: Thursday, 10/20

Welcome Video

Hola.
Click here to learn more about our Elementary Spanish program:   Welcome Video

¡Bienvenidos!

Welcome to Spanish at the Elementary School. This year our Spanish classes are taught by Señora Lisa Schauer, Señora Jennifer Stidham, and Señora Carolyn Andrade.
  • This is Señora Schauer’s 10th year at IHES. She has taught Spanish for seven years and has also taught 5th grade, 4th grade Science, and technology at IHES. Señora Schauer teaches all 3 grade levels at the ES. She loves to read and spend time with husband, their two children, and their two dogs
  • Señora Stidham has taught 6th grade Spanish at IHMS for the past seven years. She will be teaching 5th grade at the ES this year, also. Señora Stidham enjoys running and going to the park with her husband and two children.
  • Señora Andrade has been with the district for twelve years, teaching first and second grade at the IHPS. She is excited about continuing her work with our 3rd grade students.

We feel our students are incredibly fortunate to be exposed to a world language at a young age.
As a department, our philosophy is that the best way to learn a world language is through continued opportunities to hear, see, and speak the language. For this reason, our classes are conducted 95% in Spanish. Emphasis is placed on comprehension and fostering the continued development of the four language skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking). Our additional goals are to acquaint the children with another language, broaden their cultural awareness, and create an interest in world language study.

Please fill out the online Parent Contact Form below.
Feel free to contact us at any time with any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to an exciting and successful year!
