Welcome Video

¡Hola!
Click here to learn more about our Elementary Spanish program: Welcome video

We look forward to a great year with your child!

¡Bienvenidos!- Welcome!

Welcome to Spanish at the Elementary School. This year our Spanish classes are taught by Señora Lisa Schauer, Señora Hilary Smith, and Señorita Barbara Danver.
  • This is Señora Schauer’s 12th year at IHES. She has taught Spanish for eleven years and has also taught 5th grade, 4th grade Science, and technology at IHES. Señora Schauer teaches all 3 grade levels at the ES. She loves to read and spend time with her husband, their two children, and their two dogs.
  • Señora Smith has taught 6th-8th grades Spanish at IHMS for the past eight years. She will be teaching 5th grade at the ES this year, as well as continuing her work with the 7th and 8th graders. Señora Smith enjoys running and spending time outside with her husband and two children.
  • This is Señorita Danver’s second year at Indian Hill. She teaches 1st and 2nd grade Spanish at the Primary School, as well as some of the 4th grade classes at the Elementary School. Señorita Danver likes to cook, read, and spend time outdoors.

We feel our students are incredibly fortunate to be exposed to a world language at a young age. As a department, our philosophy is that the best way to learn a world language is through continued opportunities to hear, see, and speak the language. For this reason, our classes are conducted 95% in Spanish. Emphasis is placed on comprehension and fostering the continued development of the four language skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking). Our additional goals are to acquaint the children with another language, broaden their cultural awareness, and create an interest in world language study.

Please fill out the online Parent Contact Form by clicking here.
Feel free to contact us at any time with any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to an exciting and successful year!

¡Libre Soy!

When songs are changed into another language, the lyrics often change to match the true meaning of the song.  Sometimes the lyrics change, also, to match the music.

Watch & enjoy! :)
