Lotería de Práctica- 4

It's time for our 1st Practice Lottery of the year for 4th Grade!  Just like with basketball, gymnastics, drawing, and playing an instrument, the best way to get better at something is to practice it.  Here is one way you can practice and get better at Spanish!

Our drawing will be during lunch on Friday, Nov. 15th.
Extra tickets are available in Blackboard.  Click on "Grade 04", the Unified Arts button on the left side, and then the Español.

El Alfabeto

Third-grade students have been learning and practicing the alphabet.  Watch the video below to help practice.

During rounds 2 and 3, try to touch the letters as they are sung.  Can you keep up?!?

**Special note- "Ch" and "rr" are still included in this video.  "Y" still says "i griega" in this video instead of the new "yeh".

Welcome video

¡Hola!

¡Bienvenidos!

Welcome to Spanish at the Elementary School. This year our Spanish classes are taught by Señora Lisa Schauer, Señora Hilary Smith, and Señorita Barbara Danver.
  • This is Señora Schauer’s 11th year at IHES. She has taught Spanish for nine years and has also taught 5th grade, 4th grade Science, and technology at IHES. Señora Schauer teaches all 3 grade levels at the ES. She loves to read and spend time with her husband, their two children, and their two dogs
  • Señora Smith has taught 6th and 7th grade Spanish at IHMS for the past seven years. She will be teaching 5th grade at the ES this year, as well as continuing her work with the 7th graders. Señora Smith enjoys running and spending time outside with her husband and two children.
  • Señorita Danver is a wonderful addition to our staff!  She previously taught Spanish to students in K- grade 8.  Señorita Danver will be teaching 4th grade and also 1st and 2nd grade Spanish at IHPS.   She recently returned from a service trip to the Domincan Republic and has many great stories to share.

We feel our students are incredibly fortunate to be exposed to a world language at a young age.
As a department, our philosophy is that the best way to learn a world language is through continued opportunities to hear, see, and speak the language. For this reason, our classes are conducted 95% in Spanish. Emphasis is placed on comprehension and fostering the continued development of the four language skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking). Our additional goals are to acquaint the children with another language, broaden their cultural awareness, and create an interest in world language study.

Please fill out the online Parent Contact Form by clicking here.
Feel free to contact us at any time with any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to an exciting and successful year!
