Welcome Video

¡Hola!
Click here to learn more about our Elementary Spanish program: Welcome video

We look forward to a great year with your child!

¡Bienvenidos!- Welcome

Welcome to Spanish at the Elementary School. This year our Spanish classes are taught by Señora Lisa Schauer, Señorita Barb Danver, and Señorita Amy Giniewski.

  • This is Señora Schauer’s 14th year at IHES. She has taught Spanish for twelve years and has also taught 5th grade, 4th grade Science, and technology at IHES. Señora Schauer teaches all 3 grade levels at the ES. She loves to read and spend time with her husband, their two children, and their two dogs.
  • Señorita Danver has taught 1st and 2nd grade Spanish at IHPS and some of our 4th grade classes at the ES for the past three years. She enjoys running, reading, and spending time outdoors, and playing with her bulldog.
  • Señorita Giniewski is a wonderful addition to our staff!  She previously taught Spanish to students in K- grade 8 and has experience teaching high school students.  Señorita Giniewski will be teaching 3rd and 5th grade Spanish this year.  She likes to dance and rockclimb.

We feel our students are incredibly fortunate to be exposed to a world language at a young age. As a department, our philosophy is that the best way to learn a world language is through continued opportunities to hear, see, and speak the language. For this reason, our classes are conducted 95% in Spanish. Emphasis is placed on comprehension and fostering the continued development of the four language skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking). Our additional goals are to acquaint the children with another language, broaden their cultural awareness, and create an interest in world language study.

Please fill out the online Parent Contact Form by clicking here.
Feel free to contact us at any time with any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to an exciting and successful year!
